The Cockatoo is native to Australia, Indonesia, New Guinea, the Philippines and Solomon Islands. Their crest rises when they are threatened, angry or excited. They are very smart and inquisitive and can live a very long time – from 50-80 years. To bathe, they will fly through wet leaves in the treetops or hang upside-down during the rain.
Hector measures 23cm/9″ in height to the top of the head or 29cm/11.4″ including the crest, 29cm/11.4″ in length and 16cm/6.3″ in width.
The stuffing for Hector was made using 11 recycled plastic bottles.
